Welcome to my blog page.

I am delighted to tell you all that Winnie has made a good recovery.  So much so that she will be coming to England in March 2010 with her youngest sister Rose and Rose's daughter Jennifer. They will be staying with me during their whistle stop visit and I will be showing them as much of the Dick, Kerr history as possible.  They are so proud of Alice Mills and want to connect with their roots here in Preston.  It will be an honour to show them the kind of hospitality that they have shown to me.  It's not long now until they all arrive and the excitement is building on both sides of the Atlantic!

It seems certain that the National Football Museum will be moving to Manchester unless there is a last minute rescue bid put in place to keep it in Preston.  It's a very sad day for football history and I would like to thank all the staff for all their hard work over the years and wish all those people the very best of luck for the future.

Just as the new year got underway we lost yet another former member of the Dick, Kerr Ladies.  Jean Moizer passed away at 84 years of age.  Although Jean showed a lot of promise in her youth, she didn't play for very long. Her first appearances for the team were just after the 2nd World War in 1946 and she didn't stay around for too long.  In fact when I was organising the first ever reunion of the team back in 1992, Jean didn't want to be any part of it.  I made several phone calls to her home in an effort to try to persuade her to come along, or even help me in some way with my research, but she declined every request.  It made me quite sad and I didn't understand her reluctance at not wanting to be part of something so special, but none the less she did represent the team and for that at least she deserves her recognition.

I hope you have all coped well with the awful winter we have all endured.  Lets hope that the worst is all behind us and we can look forward to a good summer. Fingers crossed!
